every time i apply for a job they check my creditn report and they see thaqt there is chapter 11 on there.i'm not disputing anything,i can't get a good job.the only thing i want to do is work.what can i do without going to jail? making sure that everything is legal?How can i get a job with credit i have?my husband filed for chapter 11 and it is showing on my credit report?
Was the chapter eleven filed by your husband before or after you were married? If it was before you were married you may be able to have that noted on your credit report. Having said that, more and more companies are paying attention to credit reports as a way to thin out persons who may not be able to be responsible with money management. This does not mean that this is you. But you do need to understand that the type of jobs you keep applying for may fit this profile. Try looking into government positions. Most do only a background and not a finacial report (which does not say much for the government). Do look at your own credit report. If it is poor, than find a way to build good credit for yourself and encourage your spouse to do the same. Financial counseling is a good start to overcome your distress. You need to talk to a lawyer. Because applying for a job does not require a credit check unless your trying to find work in a credit based company. Like Amex in NY or any credit card company. Seriously, talk to your lawyer. Because this is a serious case.
Tell them in the interview if they ask if they can run your credit that your husband filed a chapter 11. Most applications state that they can investigate your background. Be Open and honest above all else.

Why are you allowing people to check your credit? A background check maybe, but you should not be giving out the kind of information on a job application that would provide enough information for a credit check.
