I receive SSI disability and I'm married. My husband has a job.
I want to know if there is a certain money scale on figuring out how
much money they should deduct from my SSI check. There might be
a break down of the way SSI figures an entire family income by the month. I would like to know each month exactly how much money I will receive, and how they figure out my husbands money to give us
a figure so we can correctly budget our finances. Also, Why does it take the SSI office so long to post the income report when it is straight money transfer? How does Social Security Disablity deduct your money when married and husband works. What are the guidelines?
I'm not sure I understand what you mean about posting income report so I'll leave that part of the answer alone.
No deduction for your husband's or anyone elses income. The amount sent to you is determined in the same manner regular SS payments would be, i.e. your work history's income. You will be also be signed on Medicare since you cannot work. When you reach retirement age, the SS Disability will switch over to the regular social security benefits.
If you feel your disability benefit is not in the correct amount, visit your congressional office or a SS attorney. How does Social Security Disablity deduct your money when married and husband works. What are the guidelines?
Good luck trying to figure anything! I get SSI too and from month to month it is different and they told me they have some system that when explained makes no sense whatsoever! For me too they make mistakes constantly! Last year they added my husband's unemployment benfits with his paycheck when he went back to work! Did it ever occur to them that when he went back to work his unemployment stopped??! No. They cut out my entire SSI because of this and I had no way to get my medicines.
They whole system doesn't seem to work at all. If you don't get answers-ask for a supervisor.
I wish I could be more positive!
Are you temporarily disabled and healing with the intention of going back to work, which is what SSI is about?
If you qualify, suggest you apply for social security disability, then no adjustment for spouse's income will be made.
If you are disabled, you will be able to go on Medicare in 2 years
